Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Food, Smoothie & Juice Recipes
[Note: this is a new section, and currently a little empty - lots more recipes will be added over the coming weeks!]
This section contains a selection of simple veg*n recipes made from natural ingredients. Of course everyone has a different definition of what’s ‘healthy’, and it’s always best to eat intuitively and give your body what it’s asking for, but these recipes fit my current preferences, which are for foods that are:
- Vegetarian or vegan
- Gluten-free
- Sugar-free (xylitol, fruit products or agave are used as sweeteners)
- Focus on natural, wholefood ingredients
- Minimal use of flour, refined grains and other highly processed ingredients
- Simple ingredient mixes
The recipes are divided into these general sections: savoury (vegan, vegetarian and raw food), sweet (with no refined sugar), smoothies, and juice/other drinks. None contain animal flesh foods, although some contain dairy, eggs etc. Suggestions for substitutions are given where appropriate.
Regarding the raw recipes – I know from past experience as a raw foodist that some people are more nit-picky than others over what constitutes ‘raw’. I’m not one of the hardline types, and as a result, ultra-strict raw fooders might not like some of the ingredients in these recipes, such as frozen or dried items. If you’re looking for ‘purist’ raw recipes, this isn’t the best place to find them.
