7 Tips For Creating An Abundance Mentality
It’s easier to attract prosperity into your life when you have a wealth mindset. This can be a bit challenging if you’ve spent your life focusing on lack, but it’s possible to reprogram the mind for abundance and release old money beliefs that don’t serve you anymore. Here are some tips for becoming prosperous from inside out.
1. Accept Your Desires
First, it’s important to fully accept that it’s ok to desire more. Some people have a belief that wanting a lot of prosperity is somehow bad or greedy, and that they should be happy with what they have. And it’s true that being chronically dissatisfied with where you are usually makes for an unhappy life, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with wanting to make changes. The ideal mental stance is to be appreciative of all the great things you’ve attracted into your life already, while simultaneously embracing your new desires. Because desiring is part of what makes us human – to deny that impulse for expansion is to deny part of who you are.
2. Identify Your Blocks
If you have a clear desire for more wealth, and don’t have it yet, then you’re resisting it on some level. This resistance often comes in the form of negative beliefs around money and wealth. For example, if you think rich people are snobby or evil, or that others will lose out in some way if you become successful, then it’s not surprising if you end up sabotaging your progress.
Sometimes these beliefs aren’t obvious at first, but a bit of observation of your own thought patterns will often reveal them. Watch your reactions when you think about your financial future, or encounter people who already have what you want. Any negative reactions are a sign that there are thought patterns at work that don’t serve you.
3. Release Negative Thoughts Around Money & Wealth
If you persistently feel negativity around the topics of wealth and abundance, it’s worth taking the time to use a releasing technique to deal with it. There are various techniques available, but one that I particularly like is EFT (emotional freedom technique).
This involves tapping on a series of energy meridian points while experiencing the negative emotion, and making statements about how you feel. Doing this helps to release the limiting patterns that may have become entrenched in your energy system. This might sound a bit weird to some, but you only have to try it for yourself to see that it really does work.
EFT is very easy to learn, and only takes a few minutes to carry out. You can read more about EFT here. For more about using EFT specifically to attract abundance, I recommend checking out Carol Look’s site AttractingAbundance.com – I have used her material a lot myself, and found it very helpful.
4. Use Prosperity Affirmations
Affirmations are another very popular way to implant new beliefs, and they work for creating a prosperity consciousness just as well as for other things. While there’s no shortage of suggestions for wealth affirmations on the web, it’s important to choose an affirmation that is personally meaningful to you. Just repeating the words won’t make much difference in itself; to get the most from using affirmations, it’s vital to really feel the emotion behind the words. How would you feel if what you’re affirming was part of your experience right now? Get clear about what that ‘feeling place’ of success will be like, and use the affirmation as a trigger to recreate it, rather than just repeating the words mechanically.
5. Take Inspired Actions
When you start working to change how you think and feel about wealth, chances are you’ll start to get new ideas for things you might like to do. It can be worth following these impulses to see where they lead, even if you can’t see from where you are right now how this idea could lead to greater wealth. You don’t need to figure out every little detail in advance – you just need to know (and take) the next step, and then the next will be revealed, and so on. Just be sure that any actions you take are truly inspired – that is, actions that really thrill and excite you, and speak to your real passions and purpose in life.

6. Choose Your Company Carefully
One other thing to be aware of is the influence of the people around you (both in your day to day life, and online). It’s often said that a person’s net worth is typically close to that of the people they spend the most time with. Whether that’s actually true or not, what’s undeniable is that being around negative, lack-focused people isn’t going to do you any favours, especially when you’re in the early days of changing your wealth mindset, and are still prone to that kind of ‘stinking thinking’ yourself.
While you’re probably not going to want to cut all your friends and family members out of your life just because they complain about money sometimes, it’s a good idea to evaluate your connections in terms of how you feel when you’re around those people. Do they uplift, inspire and encourage you, or are they the opposite?
If you can’t avoid the negative people completely, at least avoid talking to them about your dreams and desires, and don’t join in their whinge-fests. And it’s worth seeking out more positive, like-minded individuals too.
7. Visualise Your Wealth
Lastly, set some time aside each day to really visualise having the prosperity you seek. This doesn’t have to mean seeing mental pictures in your mind if that doesn’t come naturally to you – instead, just use your imagination as you normally do, to get into that ‘feeling place’ of being wealthy already.
Some people like to write scripts to help with this, which describe an ideal day. Or you could create a vision board (either physically or on your computer). Doing a guided wealth meditation is another option. Choose whatever method feels enjoyable, because the key point is to have fun with this, rather than for it to be some kind of chore.
Visualisation is a powerful technique for manifesting prosperity, because with time and practice, the feeling of being abundant *right now* will start to become your default state, and your point of attraction will change. Just be patient with yourself (this goes for using all the tips discussed in this article), and don’t expect instant results: you may have spent a lifetime practising ‘lack consciousness’, so it’s ok to take some time to develop thought habits that are the opposite of that.
