3 Self-Confidence Tips – Feel More Confident In Any Situation

Self-confidence is vital if you want to have a truly happy life. Your level of confidence impacts not only how others treat you, but how you feel within yourself. Unfortunately, many suffer from a lack of self-confidence, even those people who appear to be really sure of themselves on the surface. While you can fake confidence to some extent, this is a poor substitute for developing the real thing.

Fortunately, nobody has to live with a low sense of self-confidence, as there are many things you can do to improve it. In this article we’ll take a look at three of these.

1. Posture – Stand Tall

The first self-confidence tip is very simple, but powerful. Begin by making sure that you keep an upright posture at all times. In particular, hold your head up and keep your shoulders back. Doing this not only creates an instant impression of self-assuredness to others, but it’ll actually help you feel more confident from within too. This is because particular postures are associated with specific states of mind – the position of your body actually influences your brain chemistry!

Timid people typically keep their head and eyes cast downwards, and may round their shoulders and cross their arms in a defensive position. Adopt such a posture and you’re sending a clear signal to ‘keep away’ to others, who’ll often respond by avoiding you. This leads to a lack of social interaction, which can then damage your confidence further in a vicious cycle.

So start by making a conscious effort to sit and walk tall at all times, and force yourself to look at others in the eye even if it feels a little nerve-wracking. This is one situation in which ‘faking it till you make it’ actually does make a difference.

2. Build Your Skills

increase confidenceOur level of confidence is also closely related to how successful we feel we are. Lack of confidence can be caused by a general lack of self-esteem, but also by a lack of skills in specific areas. Nobody is good at everything, and most have aspects of their lives where they feel less than confident. However, having at least one area of life where you’re extremely proficient can have a knock-on effect and help to bolster your self-esteem more generally.

So if you don’t feel like you’re good at anything, or you have an area of interest where you’d like to increase your skills, make a concerted effort to set goals and work on it. With time, you’ll develop a level of expertise that will do wonders for your general confidence levels.

Not only does being an expert in your field increase your standing in the eyes of others, but it gives you a sense of purpose and inner self-confidence that is much stronger than any accolades that the world can bestow on you.

3. Visualise Yourself As Being Confident

Many people have found that visualisation is an excellent way to gain self-confidence. Visualisation basically involves creating a mental picture of how you would like to be, including gaining a clear sense of how it’ll feel when you have the level of confidence you desire.

In order to be effective, it’s important to practice visualising your new confident self every day. By doing this, you’ll gradually replace the limiting self image and beliefs that are responsible for your current lack of confidence with new, empowering alternatives.

Visualisation is a simple process – you need to find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, sit or lie down in a comfortable position, and spend at least 10 minutes or so visualising your confidence levels increasing. It can be especially helpful to see yourself acting in a confident manner in situations that normally make you nervous.

Visualisation involves reprogramming your subconscious mind. As such, it really helps if you can relax your conscious mind deeply, so the chatter of your thoughts quietens down and doesn’t interfere with the process. Achieving this level of relaxation and focus can be difficult for many people, especially if you’re not used to meditating.

Fortunately, using a brainwave entrainment recording can really help with using visualisation to increase your confidence. Such a recording contains sounds of specific frequencies which have been proven to help your brain relax more deeply, thus helping you to access the subconscious mind more easily. Use of such a recording will help your visualisations to take root more quickly, and you should see more rapid increases in your level of confidence as well.

If you want to take advantage of the power of meditation and visualisation for increasing your confidence from within, I recommend checking out the meditation recordings from The Unexplainable Store.
