Most of us have an internal dialogue that runs constantly inside our heads. It’s that inner voice that often provides a running commentary on what’s going on around us, and within us. Unless we’ve mastered the art of inner silence, or are focusing intently on something, this little voice rarely stops, and we may be so used to it that we barely notice it’s there.

But if you stop to listen to it, you may be shocked at what you hear, for in many cases, the internal dialogue is often rather negative in nature. It will focus on what you don’t want, be critical of others and yourself, and – if you let it – sabotage you at every turn.

This can be especially true when it comes to money. How often do you tell yourself that you can’t afford something? Or that something is ‘too expensive’, or ‘a rip-off’? Or maybe you see wealthy people with their expensive cars and other possessions, and make some kind of critical judgment?

Negative attitudes towards wealth and the wealthy are very pervasive among many sectors of western society. Just look at common expressions like ‘filthy rich’, ‘stinking rich’, ‘money doesn’t buy happiness’, ‘money is the root of all evil’ (the correct quote is actually ‘the love of money is the root of all evil’) and so on. Such expressions are extremely common, and most people would not take issue with them. Even people who have money may find themselves downplaying their wealth, or feeling like they should apologise for it. With such negative cultural stereotypes, it’s unsurprising if most people grow up with at least some negative or ambivalent feeling towards wealth.

This applies to many of those who say they want to be rich. They may sincerely mean it, but at the same time are unaware of the negative dialogue in their head, that feeds them a stream of anti-wealth sentiment. If you desire to be rich, but find yourself not making as much progress as you’d like, have a careful listen to yourself (both your inner voice and the things you say in conversations with others) and see if you find yourself reacting negatively when the topic of wealth comes up. And if you do, make a deliberate and consistent effort to replace those negative attitudes with positive ones. Breaking old habits isn’t always easy, especially when they’ve been entrenched since childhood, but this effort will pay dividends when your thoughts and words are working for your prosperity, rather than against it!

Subtitled ‘A Powerful Step-by-Step Guide to Attract Prosperity and Abundance into Your Life Today!’, this book provides nearly 60 chapters of extremely comprehensive tips for improving your financial situation. These run the gamut from practical steps to getting a grip on your spending and reducing debt, to more esoteric techniques that help you to work with the law of attraction to allow greater abundance to manifest in your life. You can see the list of chapters and read an extract from the book by using the ‘Search Inside’ function on Amazon.

Forster’s writing style is both upbeat and no-nonsense. While her material has a very solid grounding in the law of attraction and the metaphysical approach to wealth creation, she also stresses the importance of controlling your existing spending habits, and managing your money in a sensible way. Big dreams are encouraged, but only along with the kind of stable, grounded perspective which many books of this type seem to ignore.

Her own story is an inspiring one, and she certainly walks her talk; this once-struggling single parent with over $100,000 in debts turned her situation around, and now makes an abundant income doing what she loves. But although she discusses the ‘millionaire mindset’, her emphasis is not really just on accumulating huge amounts of cash; she notes that even when she had a large income, she was still unhappy and imbalanced around money. Rather, becoming ‘Wildly Wealthy’ in this context means having as much money as is desired (which obviously varies from person to person), together with a true wealth consciousness.

I won’t try to summarise all of the information here – there’s just too much! The chapters are quite short and concise, which is a definite advantage. Each chapter addresses a particular aspect of acquiring and maintaining your wealth, with the emphasis on changing your mental attitude in such a way as to allow money to flow easily. ‘Wildly Wealthy’ is a very practical book too, with action steps at the end of each chapter, so you can put what you’ve learned into practice straight away. Of course, not all of the approaches and techniques will appeal to everyone, but there’s such a wealth of both pragmatic and more esoteric material here that almost any reader is sure to find something of value.

I don’t agree with Forster’s position completely – for example, she makes some statements that imply that she believes the universe is somehow judging our suitability to receive more money, such as when she says (I’m paraphrasing here) that you if you don’t look after the money you have, and stay in balance, you might not be ‘given’ more, whereas I believe it’s purely down to energy alignment. The universe doesn’t ever judge – it just provides, and it’s down to us to let it in or not! But these are minor quibbles, and overall I found this to be a very useful and uplifting book that I’m happy to recommend to anyone who is interested in using law of attraction to increase their wealth, particularly those who need some help in getting out of debt, or getting a handle on their spending.

You can find more information about Sandy Forster and her work on her website, which also includes some great free resources.

Bob Doyle’s Wealth Beyond Reason program also includes a very interesting interview with Sandy, which is accessible (along with many hours of other expert interviews and related material) to WBR members.

I’ll be writing an in-depth review of it soon, but for now, here’s some brief info.

What Is Wealth Beyond Reason?

WBR is an internet-based ‘course’ consisting of several excellent e-books (by various authors), a large library of audio recordings, videos, a discussion group and more – and new resources are being added constantly. Its subject matter is the law of attraction, with a specific focus on using this to create a wealthy life. ‘Wealth’ here refers not just to money (although money is very important of course!), but to an abundant life in general, with the total freedom to be, do and have whatever you desire.

Sounds good, right? It is, and it’s actually relatively easy to use the power of your mind to create such a life, but most of us (myself included) have a lifetime of limiting beliefs to move beyond before we can allow ourselves to let this ability flow freely. The WBR materials provide a wide range of effective methods for dissolving these inner blocks and allowing our desires to manifest – there really is something for everyone here, no matter what your current situation.

What Wealth Beyond Reason Isn’t

There’s no shortage of money-related scams on the internet, including ‘get rich quick’ schemes and the like, so it’s natural to be sceptical of any offering that claims to help you improve your financial situation. WBR is NOT anything dodgy like this – it’s not a business, or any other kind of money making scheme. Instead it’s a 100% authentic, genuine, educational resource, and the information it provides can be applied to any area of your life. It provides an array of very high quality material, that properly applied, can help you to increase your prosperity and enjoyment of life.

But it’s up to you – putting the WBR principles into action doesn’t have to be difficult, but it requires consistent application. If you need it, you’ll get a lot of support from Bob and the other WBR participants (I’ve emailed Bob a few times for various reasons, and have always received a personal reply within a couple of hours at the most), but at the end of the day you need to apply the principles, not just read about them, so only look into it further if you’re 100% willing to take total responsiblity for your wealth, happiness and every other aspect of your life!

So It’s Just More Law Of Attraction Information?

No. It’s true that there’s already a wealth of material on the law of attraction (LOA) and using your mind to create your reality out there, in the form of websites, books etc. But WBR is a cut above just about all of it. It covers not just the LOA basics, but goes way beyond that into the science behind it, and also looks at why it often seems to not work for many (as well as offering solutions for these people). And because new information is constantly being added to the program, you get much more than you initially pay for!

Find Out More

So, that’s a rough sketch of what the Wealth Beyond Reason is about. As I said, I’ll be posting a more detailed account soon, including details of my own experiences with various aspects of the program. But if you’re interested in creating a wealthier, freer life, filled only with activities you love, as well as tapping into the power of your mind and finding out more about the science behind how the process actually works, you can find more information, as well as various freebies (book sample chapters, audio recordings etc) over at the official WBR site now.

eBay is hugely popular, and provides a great starting point for many people who wish to make money outside the confines of a regular job. It’s certainly a great introduction to online selling, as you don’t need your own website, and very little technical knowledge is required, other than basic PC skills. It’s also a good platform for those who are already in business, who wish to reach a wider market.

On a jewellery-making forum where I sometimes post, a new member asked for advice on how to sell jewellery on eBay. As I have been selling my own jewellery (and other items) successfully on eBay for some time now, I posted some of the following tips in response. As they’re focused on selling jewellery, not all of these points will apply to everyone who sells on eBay, and some issues that are important in other markets might have been missed, but these ‘basics’ are relevant to most areas.

* Name your pieces (for art/craft items)

      I read somewhere that items with names tend to outsell those that don’t. I don’t know how true that is, but it makes sense. A named piece seems a bit more special, and less like the mass produced stuff many designers are trying to distance themselves from.

    * Open a shop/store

      If you sell regularly, and have more than just a few items for sale, a shop is extremely helpful. You can benefit from lower listing fees, and organise your items into appropriate categories. You can also customeise your shopfront to your requirements. Personally, almost all of my sales are shop inventory items, and the rest are fixed price listings. I almost never run auctions, as I’m not happy to let my items go for less than I think they’re worth. I find that many of the jewellery sellers who complain that they can’t make money on eBay are depending on auction sales. It’s better, IMO, to set the price you want at the outset and stay in control, and maybe just run occasional auctions for lower value items to gain exposure. Shop listings will also get better general search engine rankings (so make sure you include appropriate keywords in your listings), although this may take time.

    * Offer a wide selection items with a range of prices

      I like doing simple pieces like thong necklaces as well as more complex, pricier items. I often find that someone will buy a simple piece item only costs a few pounds, then come back later to buy something that is more expensive. The same principle applies in many other areas where there is a range of merchandise of differing value.

    * Provide good descriptions

      I always write a full description of each piece, not just a list of components. I also give details about my terms and conditions in my listings, and include a link to my shop. I’m careful to proofread all my listings for typos & grammatical errors, and try to make them look as professional as possible (this alone will make your listing stand out, as many eBay sellers don’t seem to bother!)

    * Ship internationally

      Some of my biggest spending customers have been outside the UK! It also helps to cover yourself by stating in your listing that the buyer may be liable to pay import duties on their purchase, and that it’s their responsibility to be aware of these before buying.

    * Accept that not everything will sell straight away

      Don’t be disheartened if a listing ends without a sale. Just relist it, and if it still doesn’t sell, put it in your shop inventory for a while. A lot of my sales have come on the second or third relist. And some items sit in my shop for a few months before selling, but they do sell eventually!

    * Cultivate repeat customers

      You can get lots of sales from repeat buyers. This takes time, but it’s great when you find someone who loves your work and keeps coming back for more!

    * Build a mailing list

      eBay offers this facility for free if you have a shop. You can then email people to let them know about new ranges, special offers etc.

    * Provide good photos

      You don’t have to be a brilliant photographer to take clear photos. I use a basic digital camera and scanner, and always clean photos up with editing software before using them. For pricier items I include more than one photo, including at least one close up. Good photos will definitely give you an edge, as the majority of people selling on eBay seem to have images that are mediocre at best!

    * Charge appropriately & don’t try to compete on price

      eBay isn’t the best marketplace for all items (in my case it’s not the best outlet for my relatively expensive jewellery), but buyers who are willing to pay for quality DO exist. I always charge a fair price for my items (fair to the buyer and to myself), and don’t underprice to compete with those who are practically giving their stuff away. Rather than competing on price, stress the excellence of your products and service; remember the old saying ‘you can have any two of price, quality or service’! I’d rather make fewer sales for the price I want than lots of sales of underpriced items. (In fact, I don’t actually see myself as being in competition with anyone – here’s why!)

    * Make effective use of keywords in the title

      Don’t worry about making your titles grammatically correct. You don’t get many characters to use, so just use the keywords that people will use to search for an item like yours.

    * Don’t depend on eBay too much

      eBay can be a great online outlet for your wares, but it’s never a good idea to have all of your eggs in one basket. Fee increases, unpredictable site availability and other issues can potentially affect your sales, so it’s a good idea to also have your own website or other arenas to keep your sales on a stable footing.

Above all, just jump in and have a go, if you haven’t already. You’ll make mistakes, but learn from them, and you’ll find eBay can be a very profitable place, whatever the scale of your activities!

Many people who are seeking financial freedom – and freedom generally – find that their jobs present a barrier to that goal. Aside from the fact that it can be difficult to find a job that pays enough to fund a super-rich, super-free lifestyle (assuming that’s what is wanted), there is also the issue of time-freedom. Many people dislike having to be in a certain place at a fixed time, for a particular number of hours. Most jobs also offer the employee little control over their working environment, and in many cases, over how they organise their work. Not to mention the other infringments traditional employment may put on personal freedom, such as dress codes, etc.

For those who dislike their working lives being limited in such ways, working from home can be an ideal solution, and this article looks at some of the advantages (and possible disadvantages) of doing so. Many people who work from home are self-employed, but with the rise of telecommuting, it has also become an option for many employees too, and this article is aimed at both types of home-worker, although much of it is only relevant to employees. Working from home certainly won’t suit everyone, but if you’re considering it (or maybe you’re already doing it, and enjoy being reminded of how great this lifestyle is!), read on!

Pros

Flexbility

Start and finish when you want, and take breaks when you want. You can fit your work around other activities; for example, you could go shopping or visit the post office/bank during quiet times, and avoid the lunchtime rush.

No commute

Less time and money spent commuting means more time and money for you! Plus you avoid all the stress associated with rush hour traffic.

Improved family life

Working from home can be perfect for those who have children, and who wish to spend more time with them (or other family members) during the day.

No dress code

No need to wear a restrictive suit or uniform. In fact no need to wear anything if you don’t want to!

No office politics

The lack of office politics and annoying colleagues is a great blessing of working from home.

‘Presenteeism’ is not an issue

Many employees are unfairly judged by the amount of time they put in at their workplace, rather than the results they achieve. When you work at home there’s no need to sacrifice your personal life to do unpaid overtime just because the boss believes that her/his staff should be workaholics!

Less stressful

One of the greatest causes of stress is the feeling of being out of control of your life. Traditional work environments minimise personal autonomy, and have many other stressful aspects too. When working from home you’re not subjected to these stressors, and you have much more control over your experience.

Work where you like

Many people have a home office, but it’s by no means necessary to recreate ‘normal’ work conditions. If you use a laptop to do your work, (and have a wireless internet connection if you need to be online), you could work from the sofa with your laptop, or enjoy the garden on sunny days, or even stay in bed all day – your imagination’s the limit!

Be you own boss

This applies most obviously to the self-employed, but employees working forom home also experience a large degree of autonomy over how they work, relative to those in the usual workplace. This independence is priceless to many.

Tax benefits

You may be able to claim back some of your home office expenses.

Freedom

Basically, so long as you get your work done, you’re free to spend your days as you please, with no-one looking over your shoulder.

Quality of life

This a hard to define aspect, but working from home improves it, because you miss out on so many of the common stressors associated with normal working environments, and spend more time feeling good, not just about work, but life in general.

Cons

Personally, I don’t find any disadvantages to working from home, but there are certain aspects of the experience that may not appeal to everyone. Here are a few – plus some possible solutions.

You must be self motivated

The lack of a boss looking over your shoulder is an advantage, but it also means you need to be a self starter. This should not be a problem if you’re doing work that you love however! (and if you’re not – maybe it’s time to follow your dreams!)

Lack of social contact

If you’re home alone, you may find that you miss face to face contact with co-workers. Try meeting friends for lunch, or taking a breaks to get out of the house into a public place.

Feeling ‘out of the loop’

This feeling of isolation might have career ramifications, if it means that you don’t hear about new projects or opportunities as quickly as you would if you were office based. Make sure you stay in regular email contact, and remind those who matter of your desires regarding career advancement.You might also miss out on office-based training and other opportunities to develop your skills.

Lack of work-life balance

When you home is your office it can be difficult to get away from work! Some people find it helpful to have a separate room for work, or if you don’t have space, try using a corner of one room and screening it off. Similarly, don’t let work hours intrude into personal time, and avoid the temptation to overwork. Again, if you love your work, this is less of a problem.

Lack of space

Depending on the work you do, you might find that you need a lot of space. If you live in a small house or apartment, this can be a problem, but try to do what you can to avoid it becoming too intrusive, such a using screens.

Some employers are inflexible

In some occupations, your employer might require you to work/be available during normal hours (or other set hours). This can apply to some self-employed occupations too (where clients need you to be available at certain times), and in both cases, the usual flexibility that comes from working at home is limited.

Lack of security

In the case of self-employment, and in some types of employment, work hours – and consequently income – may not be guaranteed.

Family and other social issues

It may be difficult for family and friends to appreciate that you really are working, and they may insist on interrupting you, and making demands on your time and attention. If this is the case, you need to be firm about remaining undisturbed when you’re working.

In the end, you know if working from home is right for you and your situation or not – follow your inner voice. And if you’d love to work from home, but don’t see how you can do it in your current situation, don’t worry. Just hold a clear vision of what you want, and let the universe take care of the ‘how’s. I know this works because it worked for me!

Picture this: it’s Monday morning. You wake up – without an alarm. You remember it’s Monday – you smile happily. You get up – at a leisurely pace. You go to work – in your pyjamas. You begin work – and love every minute.

Sound unfamiliar? It needn’t be, if you join the millions of people who already work for themselves, from home. Just a generation ago, most people grew up believing that they’d find a secure job, stay there for their working lives, and retire at 65, complete with pension. Those days are now gone, as corporate job security – which was never that secure anyway – diminishes. The upside is that opportunities for entrepreneurs to build their own businesses have increased, as a result of the internet and global economy. There has never been a better time to branch out on your own.

So, self-employment has a lot going for it, and for those who are committed to maximising their abundance, and becoming truly financially free, it’s almost essential. Sure, there are a tiny number of employed positions where you can earn million-pound plus salaries, but for most people, unless you hit the jackpot or inherit a huge sum, your wealth – or at least a portion of it – is likely to come through your own creative activities. And it’s difficult to maximise that creative potential when you’re using it to make someone else rich.

As you can guess, I’m self-employed, and am biased its favour. I believe that becoming self-employed is one of the most empowering steps a person can take, whether it’s full time or part time, on a sole trader basis or with your own limited company (or non-UK equivalent). But it may not be for everyone. This article looks at some of the pros and cons you might want to consider if it appeals to you, but you’re undecided. It also looks at how a deliberate creator might approach some of the ‘cons’. Of course there are different types of self-employemnt, and this article is focused on the sole trader working from home. In reality, many self-employed people may have partners or employees, or work from an outside office, so not all of these points will apply to everyone.

Pros

* Freedom to control your time

      No need to do 9-5/Monday-Friday if you don’t want to! This flexibility is one of the major attractions of self-employment.

    * No dress code

      No need to wear a suit or other uniform. In fact, no need to get dressed at all if you don’t want to – who’ll know you’re in the buff when you can hide behind your computer/phone!

    * No limit on your income or level of success

      The sky’s the limit here. No need to beg for a miserly annual salary increase – you’re in charge of the purse-strings. And there’s no ‘glass ceiling’ to contend with either, making self-employment a perfect choice for those who experience discrimination in traditional workplaces. Self-employment puts you in control of your future.

    * Work you love

      Whatever your passion(s) in life, there’s a way to generate income from it. Work should be a source of personal satisfaction as well as of income, and self-employment makes this kind of work easier to find/create.

    * Lack of office politics

      No more brown-nosing the boss or dealing with annoying co-workers!

    * Creative scope

      A business is a fantastic outlet for self-expression – you get to create the product/service, the advertising, the marketing – everything!

    * Learn new skills

      To run your business successfully, you’ll need to wear many hats at first, including accountant, marketer, PR person, IT person and more. Even if you outsource things like book-keeping, you’ll still need to have a grasp of the fundamentals, to know if your advisers are doing their job properly. It can be very satisfying to master what you need to know in these areas.

    * No need to stay in one place

      Many types of self-employed work enable you to work anywhere you choose, be that your bed, the garden, or a local coffee shop. If you do most of your business online, you don’t even have to stay in one country – how’s that for freedom? Working for yourself brings independence in more ways than one.

    * Confidence boost

      Overall, running your own business is a terrific confidence booster. Even if takes time to manifest the level of success you desire, just the knowledge that you’re actually doing what so many only dream of can feel very good. Add that to all the new skills you’ll inevitably master, and personal growth – and the sense of satisfaction and self-esteem that goes with it – is guaranteed.

There are other aspects of being your own boss that might seem like a downside, however. But even these can need not be obstacles, particularly for someone who is consciously creating their life. Here are a few of them:

Cons

    * Lack of steady income

      This can be a problem for many, especially in the first year or two of establishing their business. But lack need not be an issue at any time. There are those who find success very quickly, or who attract a comfortable income from other sources in the early days, although it’s more common to hear about those who only ‘make it’ after lots of struggle. Remember – you don’t have to create that scenario in your own life.

    * Social isolation

      Most sole traders working from home necessarily spend a lot of time alone, and while this might be a welcome respite from the world for many, others might miss the company of co-workers. Taking your laptop to a public place to work, meeting a friend for lunch, and maintaining a social life outside work hours can help with this.

    * Responsibility for all areas of the business

      As a business owner, the buck stops with you. This responsiblity can feel daunting if you’re used to feeling ‘taken care of’ in a job, but it usually gets easier, and outside help is generally available if necessary. For example, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the aspects of your business that you dislike (such as doing the books), you can often outsource these jobs to others. If you need advice, this is usually available, for example from business advice organisations, government agencies etc. You’re rarely truly alone if you don’t want to be. And on the flip side, with that responsibility comes power – you’re always in control of what’s going on with your business.

    * Distractions & lack of motivation

      Working at home means you’re subject to lots of potential distractions. With no boss looking over your shoulder, it’s up to you to make sure you get the job done, and many find themselves falling prey to the lure daytime TV and other activities. But if you choose work that you truly love, motivation will be less of a problem – you don’t have to force yourself to do what you’re passionate about!

    * The unhelpful attitudes of others

      Sometimes other people have difficuly accepting that someone who works from home is truly ‘working’, especially in the case of family members who don’t understand what you’re doing, and just see you sitting on the sofa with a laptop all day. These people often fail to see why you can’t run errands or take time out for non-work activities as often as they’d like. You need to set clear boundaries in this situation, and this is made easier if you can help them understand what your work involves. If they still don’t take you seriously, you’ll need to be more ruthless – but remember that their attitude will change when the money rolls in! ; )

    * Overheads & start up costs

      As a business owner, you’ll need to purchase the ‘stuff’ – from stationaery to specialist equipment – that might have previously been provided for you by an employer. The costs of this can be significant, especially when you’re starting out, and especially if you have problems obtaining funding from the usual sources (banks etc). But again – align yourself with the allowance of an easy flow into your life, and you needn’t go down the struggle route.

    * Dealing with tax & other admin work

      Unlike an employee, you’ll be responsible for filing your own tax returns and keeping up with other administration work. The key here is to keep your records up to date as you go along, rather than being tempted to leave it all until the end of the tax year to deal with. You could also hire an accountant to help out if you prefer to focus on other aspects of the business.

    * Lack of benefits, holiday pay etc, and lack of employment law protection

      You’ll also miss out on the pension plans, sick pay, holiday pay and other benefits that you would gain as an employee. But IMO these aren’t such a big loss. You have the potential to more than make for for their loss with the enormous income that can now flow to you in the absence of a set salary level! And if you’re doing work you love, why plan for retirement? If you’re taking responsibility for your health and knowing that you create your body from the inside out, why plan to get sick? If you accept that you’re creating/attracting everything in your experience, why do you need external protection? Dealing with these ‘downsides’ of self-employment is much easier for someone who accepts that they create their own reality in every respect.

    * Long hours & stress

      Many people believe that it’s necessary (especially in the early days) to work very long hours to be successfully self-employed, and that this must necessarily be stressful. Two points to consider: it’s not your action that gets the results you desire, but your vibrational alignment with success. Line up on an energy level, and you’ll find that the need for action is minimised (for more on this, see The Key to Success – Attraction or Hard Work?). Secondly, if you love what you’re doing, chances are you won’t be watching the clock, and even long hours spent doing what you love aren’t stressful, if you’re enjoying the process as much as the end result. So remember – the choice to struggle is yours.

    * Lack of work-life balance

      On a purely practical level, those working from home need some space to call their own. A room of your own is ideal, but if that’s not currently feasible, at least carve out some territory for yourself, and insist that anyone you live with respect your boundaries.

      It’s also easy for the psychological lines between work and other activities to become blurred when you’re doing both in the same space. Some people find it helpful to have a set timetable, and begin and end the day with little routines to separate ‘work’ from non-work activities. Personally, I love what I do so much that I don’t see it as ‘work’, so I don’t feel the need to make a distinction. But if your work feels like work (in the negative sense) to you, it’s especially important to avoid overdoing it.

    * Potential failure and loss of money

      Many people like to point out that your business might fail and you’ll lose eveything you’ve invested. In short, you might fail. But remember – law of attraction will bring you more of what you focus on, so failure is actually unlikely if you remain focused on what you want. And even if things go in just the opposite direction to your plans, there’s no such thing as failure. Many successful entrepreneurs have had false starts, or even become bankrupt, before finding massive success. So even if the worst happens (and remember, it’s unlikely if you’re focused 100% on success), you only ‘fail’ when you give up on your dreams.

    * Problems with obtaining mortgages, insurance etc

      Banks and other traditionally conservative institutions can be wary of lending money or providing insurance to those without a steady income or a solid employment history. But with self-employment on the increase, things are improving, so keep your focus on what you want, allow law of attaction to match you up with those institutions who are willing and able to meet your needs, and don’t expect to encounter problems. Remember that you’re the customer and they need your business, and don’t allow yourself to be intimidated. Believe in yourself 100%, and you’re much more likely to make a positive impression. Every aspect of your self-employment experience can run smoothly if you allow it too!

Should you take plunge?

Only you know the answer to that. Listen to what your gut is telling you – does the thought of working for yourself exhilarate or terrify you? Maybe it’s a mixture of both, but in your heart you’ll know if it’s the best step for you right now or not. And remember that there’s no need to make a huge change overnight – you could start a side business outside of your regular job, and wait until you’ve established a reasonably steady income on a part-time basis before you decide to go full-time.

Chances are, once you’ve begun, more and more opportunities will open up, and your path forward will become clear. You don’t need to know what you’ll be doing in 10 or 50 years – you only need to know the next step, and that’s always made obvious by the way you feel when you contemplate your various options.

For more on the entrepreneur mindset, and moving beyond any blocks and fears that crop up with regard to self-employment, I recommend reading ‘Wealth Without a Job<img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=quantumblissb-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0471656453" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /'> by Phil Laut and Andy Fuehl.

If you’re reading this right now you probably have been broke, are broke, or know someone who is struggling with being broke. The pain and suffering of being in this state is truly awful. Being broke causes thoughts of despair, feelings of failure, desperation, struggle, lack and need. Being broke prevents us from reaching our potential, from living our lives freely. Being broke prevents us from being wealthy.

How is this possible? Like attracts like. Being broke attracts more experiences of being broke. It is a vicious cycle, once that can very easily be transformed once we understand the fundamental laws of how our mind and spirit interact with the universe.

It is your underlying state of BEING, in this case, being broke, that creates the resultant thoughts and feelings in your mind. As a package, this whole message is broadcast to the universe, which in return gives you more of the same: experiences of being broke.

One of the laws of manifestation is that we must BE before we can DO, and DO before we can HAVE. Of course modern society has twisted this all around. Being broke is a powerful message we are sending to the universe and ourselves. We are in a state of BEING, and it is broke. This will inform our actions to act in ways to continue to be broke, and we will continue to have this condition of being broke in our lives.

Your life experience is an outer reflection of your inner reality. All the thoughts and feelings you hold, consciously and unconsciously, are what create the experience that is your life. Your past created your present, and your present is creating your future.

It can be hard to understand that we are responsible for what we experience. I remember being unhappy, and then experiencing events that I perceived as causing me to be unhappy. Then I would say to myself, I am unhappy because of this? No wonder I am unhappy. I was trapped in my own vicious cycle and had no idea it was me who was responsible for my experiences of unhappiness.

To break the cycle I first needed to know what was broken in order to fix it. It was the message I was sending out. I found there was a very simple way to fix it.

If I notice one day that I am unhappy, and understand that BEING unhappy is the cause of my continuing experience of unhappiness, it is that day that I can choose to change. All I need to do to break the cycle is: choose to be happy. It doesn’t take anything from outside myself to be happy. All I have to do is gain awareness, pause, and pull up from within myself the state of being happy, replacing the unhappiness. We all have this capacity.

Choosing is an exercise of free will. You can choose BE happy, healthy, wealthy, whatever you desire. Take a moment and just BE happy. It is possible for anyone to do and a very powerful exercise once you have done it and understood it. If you are being happy, you will do things that make you happy, and you will attract happy experiences into your life. Being happy is the first step towards living a happy life. It seems almost like a riddle, but understanding it unravels the secrets of life.

If you find yourself broke, look within. You’ll find you feel broke, and are in a powerful state of BEING. The awareness of this gives you the choice. You can choose your state of being. Imagine what it is like to feel wealthy. Take that feeling and hold it, you are now BEING wealthy. This is how to break the vicious cycle of being broke. By BEING wealthy, you are now transforming the signals you are broadcasting. You are emanating wealth and the laws of cause and effect have no choice but to bring to you what you already are. Now your actions will begin to bring to you the wealth you feel inside.

By being conscious of your states of being, you can choose to change them. The positive results will return to you without fail, following the natural laws of the universe.

What would you do with your life if you had 20 million dollars in the bank? Would you be as you are now, the same you, or would you be different? Certainly your life would change because you would be able to make new choices.

Did you know that you can use the power of your mind to achieve your desires and goals? To do so, you must change your mindset. As attributed to Lisa Diane, a well-know inspirational leader, to be wealthy, you must be wealthy (in you mind), think wealthy (your thoughts form your perceptions which form your reality), speak wealthy (speak only positive thoughts), and act wealthy.

Napoleon Hill spent 20 years interviewing 500 of the wealthiest people to find out what it takes to become wealthy. He interviewed notables including Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and many others. In his book ‘Think and Grow Rich’, Hill explained the common thread among the wealthy in being able to use the power of the mind to transfer thoughts into their physical reality.

You too, can use the power of your own mind to achieve your goals and desires. Apply the following rules to begin creating your own manifesting mindset:

   1. Go, see, do. Be definitive in your desires. Know explicitly what you want. Manifest the desire clearly in your mind.

   2. Be patient. Believe in your desires and expect them to happen. Trust that they will happen. But be patient.

   3. Feel like you have your goals and desires now. Don’t just visualize your desire, feel it.

   4. Clear your mind. Get rid of junky and negative thoughts and focus in a positive way on your goals and desires.

   5. Believe that you will get what you want. Beliefs create perceptions which create reality.

   6. Use affirmations daily. An ‘affirmation’ is ‘a solemn and formal declaration attesting to the truth of some matter’.

   7. Stay focused on your desires. The more you visualize, feel, believe and affirm your desires (in a positive way), the more real they become.

   8. Be aware of your dreams. They are reflective (although distorted) of your thoughts and emotions.

   9. Don’t doubt. Instead be sure that you will receive your desires. Don’t try to control when or how; instead, just receive your desires when they come to you.

  10. Clearly set your intentions. An ‘intention’ is ‘an anticipated outcome that guides your planned actions’. A realized goal or desire is the result of your intentions.

  11. Be grateful for what you have, even before you have it. Expect and believe that you have your desire already, and be grateful for it.

  12. Give to others, and in return you shall receive.

You produce your own reality.

There are a couple of things you’ve probably heard said over and over. The first is, “Why doesn’t God answer my prayers?”. There are a couple of things you’ve probably heard said over and over. The first is, “Why doesn’t God answer my prayers?”. What you’ll generally hear next is the response which goes something like, “God DOES answer your prayers. Sometimes he just says ‘No’”.

The fact is, it’s not God who says “No”. In fact, God – the infinite source of “All that Is”, ONLY says “Yes”! God is the ultimate “creation” mechanism. God responds PRECISELY to YOUR creative catalyst. <,p>So you say, “Well, I’ve been asking God for money, but he hasn’t given it to me.”. The answer lies in HOW you are asking! Remember that God – the Universe – responds in a very precise way! It’s a matter of Quantum Physics! If your prayer goes something like, “Dear God. I’m in trouble. I have no money. I can’t pay any of the bills. I need money!”, then THAT is what will be real for you. You WILL be in trouble. You WILL have no money! You WON’T be able to pay the bills, and you WILL NEED MONEY.

The Universe feeds back to you what you give it – and in fact, amplifies it!

If who you are “being” is a person with what we’ll call “lack consciousness”, then LACK will be your reality! Every thought you have about “not having” will be mirrored in your experience of reality.

Do you desire wealth? Then BE wealthy first, and the Universe will respond.

The fact is, we are here for the express purpose of creating our realities and living incredible lives. We are the manifestation of God’s experience in the physical. God does not desire for us to live in lack, and in fact strongly desires that we have everything we desire. It is WHY we have desires in the first place! We are not only meant to have our desires realized, but we have the ability to have them manifest in our lives WHENEVER we want!

However, our egos and limiting belief systems have distorted our power. We have made ourselves “small”. We have created thoughts about wealth and prosperity that make them inaccessible to us. Yet they are RIGHT THERE…waiting for us to experience them.

God does not say, “No, you may not experience wealth.” God says, “YES! EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING!”. However the “mechanics” of reality creation require you to BELIEVE that you already have the things you desire. That’s why it’s so easy for so many people to experience “lack”. It’s easier for them to believe that they “can’t have something” than it is for them to have everything they want because they have all this external “evidence”. The fact is, however, that it is just as “easy” to have either one. It is simply a matter of your belief.

Your current experience is the PERFECT manifestation of your current belief system. It is the EFFECT, not the cause. YOU are the cause your experience. When you can integrate that, you can begin to create consciously from the inside out (which is the only way you CAN create). You can break out of the “loop” which has you believing that your external circumstances are causing your experience.

You must understand that whatever your experience is right now, it is God (the Universe, All that Is) saying “YES” to whoever it is you are being, thinking, speaking, and acting.

To create consciously you MUST “be”, “think”, “speak”, and “act” that your desires are already fulfilled – and they shall be. To the extent that you do these things, you will experience the “yes” that you REALLY desire from God much more quickly.

So you’ve read “Think and Grow Rich”, and you’ve got an intellectual understanding that you “become what you think about”. You have a list of affirmations about wealth, and you recite them every day.

But you still have no money. Wealth doesn’t seem to be anywhere around.

What’s the deal here? According to Napoleon Hill, you ought to be filthy stinkin’ rich, right?

Well, here’s the real deal: If you’re not “Wealth Conscious”, than all this thinking, and all this affirming isn’t going to bring you wealth. Thinking, and affirming are simply actions you’re taking. But they are just PART of the sequence of creating wealth. If you skip the FIRST step, you simply can’t get anywhere.

So what’s the first step?

Being.

To attract wealth, you first have to BE wealthy. THEN, you think wealthy thoughts, speak wealthy affirmations, and take wealthy action.

“But how can I BE wealthy if I’m NOT wealthy?” you ask. Logical question, but it’s based on the false assumption that you don’t have wealth. You HAVE wealth. You’re simply not aware of it. You have constructed a physical reality that prevents you from experiencing Wealth. This can all be explained with the science of Quantum Physics.

So let’s look at some very basic concepts of Quantum Physics that will explain what I’m talking about.

First, you probably are aware – at least on an intellectual level – that at a subatomic level, we, and everything else in the Universe, is Energy. When you break everything down, we’re all made of the same stuff, and we’re all connected. The Universe is just this huge ocean of Energy, vibrating at various frequencies which gives the illusion of individuation. That is, we experience the illusion of separateness from each other, physical objects, and wealth because our “senses” are decoding the Energy around us in such a way as to create our physical reality.

This all happens in our thoughts.

So, to simplify things quickly here for the sake of time (another illusion), “things” only exist because we observe them. It is in our observing that things come into existence. Without our observing, things are simply “waves” – probabilities of existence. Physicists agree on this.

Our beliefs are a very powerful Energy system in our lives. Our beliefs allow or disallow certain experiences in our lives, including wealth.They make up who we are. We “BE” in the world according to our beliefs. If we are being is “someone who is trying to get wealthy by repeating affirmations”, then THAT is what our reality will be. We will just be TRYING to get wealthy.

We have to make the decision that we ARE wealthy, contrary to any external physical evidence. That evidence is an illusion based on the belief systems that have guided who we have been being up to that point.

A truly wealthy person isn’t wealthy because they have money. They have money, because they are wealthy! That’s the distinction that most people have backward!

Here’s an example to illustrate what I mean:

Tony Robbins became a millionaire at a very young age. Then, due to a series of poor judgments, he lost it. But within a year, he had it back. How did he do this? HE NEVER LOST HIS WEALTH. He only lost his money, which is just a symbol of wealth! Because he is “Wealth Conscious”, he literally “magnetically attracts” wealth into his life. He truly can’t help it! It’s who he is! And there are thousand out there like him, who attract wealth simply because it’s who they are. You can make the same decision and have the same results.

Conversely, a person who has grown up with “lack consciousness” can win millions in the lottery and lose it within a year. Their consciousness – their ENERGY – simply can’t maintain the attraction to Wealth because they aren’t “wealthy” in who they are being.

But again, Wealth is a decision. If you aren’t currently experiencing wealth, you first need to realize that abundance is everywhere…in fact it’s all there is. Poverty and lack are the illusions. You can shift your consciousness to Wealth – BE Wealth – by simply making the decision, THEN your thoughts, speech, and action will allow you to experience the wealth that is yours!

This is indeed a complex subject which challenges our core belief systems. But it is those very belief systems that keep a person in a state of lack.

Look at your financial situation today. Look at your core beliefs about Wealth and You, and see if your life isn’t a PERFECT reflection of your beliefs. Then, look where those beliefs may have originated. When you can awaken to yourself that your beliefs create your reality, rather than the other way around, you have the option to truly be free to experience a reality of prosperity that you deserve!
